Who am I?
Hi, I’m Danielle Brown — but you can call me Dani! I’m a proud graduate of the University of Alabama with two degrees: a B.A. in African American Studies and a B.A.C. in Advertising & Public Relations. My creative journey lives through my brand, createdbydani. It began in high school, when I first picked up a camera to capture my peers playing football. Around that same time, I fell in love with digital art. Those early moments shaped the creative foundation I carried into college. At UA, I joined 1956 Magazine — the university’s only Black student-led publication. Over two years, I grew from Assistant Design Editor to Managing Editor, and eventually Creative Director. I helped produce four award-winning issues that still stand as some of my proudest work. I’ve also designed newsletters for the Capstone Association of Black Journalists and served as a curriculum coordinator teaching elementary students journalism, public speaking, videography, and layout design. Beyond the classroom, I’ve worn many creative hats — from web manager and photographer for the Alabama Women’s Hockey Team, to Social Media & Design Specialist for my church, where I curated their first-ever magazine and continue to manage their online presence. At the heart of my work is a love for storytelling — especially stories that are often overlooked. Whether through visuals or strategy, I aim to create work that is authentic, intentional, and deeply rooted in truth.
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10
